Dear Sanislo Elementary School Community,

It is with mixed emotions that I am writing to inform you this will be my last year at Sanislo Elementary School.

I have been here for three amazing years and after seriously considering everything, I have decided that it is the right time for me to step down from my current position.

I have accepted the position of Principal at Miramonte Elementary School in El Monte, Calf. effective July 1, 2016. This is the school in which I served as a teacher before moving to Seattle.

As difficult as this is for me, I feel confident that I am leaving Sanislo poised to continue the amazing work of providing academic and social-emotional excellence for all of our students. While seeking new opportunities brings some excitement, I want you to know this was not an easy decision for me.

I’m indebted to so many incredible friends and colleagues who have made my experience at Sanislo a pleasant and meaningful one. We have the most positive, innovative and hardworking staff, the most supportive and positive group of families, and the most brilliant, caring, and hardworking students.

I am proud of the accomplishments that we have been able to achieve together over the past three years. These include securing the Family and Education Levy Grant from the City of Seattle, putting structures and procedures in place, as well as increasing student academic success, and being awarded the Washington State Academic Achievement Award for increasing the proficiency of our English Language Learners.

Sanislo is a wonderful small school that absolutely lives up to its motto, a small school with big ideas. It has been my honor serving all of you over the past three years. As much as I will miss this community, I will cherish the memories and reflect fondly upon them as I move forward in both my professional and personal life.

As we wrap up the year, I am hopeful that you continue on the path we have laid together. This mission lives with you. Your relentless commitment, drive and compassion for our school, staff and students will ensure that Sanislo Elementary School will continue to be an amazing learning community and that our mission of excellence thrives!

Thank you all for your kindness and support.

With appreciation,

Bruce J. Rhodes, Principal
Sanislo Elementary School
