Student Activities

We at Sanislo feel that participation in student-oriented activities is a vital part of a student’s education. Therefore, a wide range of activities is provided, which include the following:

Safety Patrol
Mr. Tran, sttran@seattleschools.org
Every school day-rain or shine- the Safety Patrol is out before and after school to ensure that everyone is able to cross the street safely. Four different squads of four students each rotate the responsibilities of guarding the upper and lower cross walks and reporting any concerns or problems to the main office.

Ultimate Frisbee
Ms. O’Connor, eloconnor@seattleschools.org
Disc Northwest sponsors a spring league elementary co-ed ultimate Frisbee team for Seattle Public Schools. Sanislo All-stars are 4th and 5th grade boys and girls competing against other Elementary Schools. We play every Saturday at South Park community fields. Spring league runs from March 15-May 21.

5th Grade Environmental Club
Mr. Apostol, joapostol@seattleschools.org
The 5th grade environmental club is a student-directed group responsible for local cleanup, composting, and recycling in our classroom. Students have pulled trash out of the wetlands, sorted trash and recycling after lunch into their appropriate containers, and collected food scraps to add to our compost piles in the 5th garden area.
